For researcher: Albums which have been indexed are available in the museum. Many contain very early pictures of Yorktown.

The musuem is open by appointments as well as usual hours.

The facebook site list additional information and albums of pictures telling the story of this unique museum.

Saturday (except if Holiday) 1:00-4:00

Sunday (except if Holiday) 2:00-5:00

    Dorothy Schroeder Mayfield. My dad was in the Navy with Lawrence Jensrzy id I spelled that right. He and Helen and family were dear friends of ours. I had polio in 52 and we always atayed with them when we went back for follow upa to Warm Springs. From 52 to 60. We drove to Yorktown from Abilene on Friday. I still remember getting a burger from Tom ans Eds gas station. Great memories

    Is related to Henry Hohn? I remember once Henry drove me home on his bicycle. I got sick at Holy Cross and there was no phone to call my Mom.

    The museum’s latest logo  Charles Eckhardt who was a successful businessman in Indianola,Texas freighted supplies from Indianola to SanAntonio
    He wanted a shorter route so he got Captain John York to help plan
    The Indianola Trail was the Trail used
    There was a half way point that Charles Eckhardt saw as a great place to stop as well as set up business. Permission granted from John York to give up some of his property
    Stopping place—name in honor of York
    Thus Yorktown
    First five families were German  Yorktown, Texas
    Charles and Caesar Eckhardt and Sons Place of business
    On the Indianola Trail

    Our great, great grandfather, Carl Hoff, from Prussia, came along a bit later and also carted freight throughout Texas, Mexico, and the Southwest.

    Mourning jewelry...lots of it from that time period. Much of it is stunning but NO WAY would I purchase something with that high of a risk of attachment!!!
